It is interesting to realize that African Americans have been at the beginning or forefront of what is now known as Country Music, when they began by creating and singing soul-searching songs during slavery by singing out their thoughts, feelings, and misery in their musical thoughts accompanied by a musical instrument known as the banjo, which originated as an African musical instrument. These songs have a history which is known and recognizable through being passed down from generation to generation and taught knowingly or unknowingly to the white slavers or eventually other country whites who eventually became country artists.
